For this project, I was required to produce red and white wine labels and corresponding package concepts for a winery based at Blanche Point in Mclaren Vale.
I have designed these wine labels and packages to represent aspects of the winery’s physical location. The Vineyards at Blanche Point sit upon an ancient rock formation along Maslin Beach. As such, I have chosen to base these designs on shells as they are not only representative of the coastal location, but are also found as fossils within the rock formation beneath the soil of the vineyards. To capture the essence of weathered out fossils, I chose to produce the linework of the shells with roughly textured brush strokes. The designs were created in black and white to formulate clear contrast that emphasizes the illustrations. To create a distinction between the red and white wine labels/packaging, the colour application has been reversed. Likewise, juxtaposition is also demonstrated through the use of different shell designs.
